Science and Religion ColumnContinental Drift
By Ali Sadeeq, Staff Writer

Kano, Nigeria − Q88:17 & 20 "Do they not look at.....the earth and how it is spread out?”

The Oxford English Dictionary says; "Spreads means to send out in various directions so as to cover or extend over a larger area of space". God asked us in the above verse to examine our earth, and scrutinize how it was originally assembled in a single vast continent (The Pangaea) before it was spread out into the present seven continents. For 1200 years nobody looked carefully enough to realize that until 1858 when A. Snider suggested the idea of the continental drift after he had observed the two sides of the Atlantic Ocean. He realized that the sides can be made to fit together like pieces in a jigsaw puzzle, with the correspondence being too remarkable for it to pass as a coincidence. A study of the rocks, geological formations, fossils and living plants and animals on both sides of the Atlantic showed significant correspondence at the same latitude and it seemed evident that the two shores must once have been connected. What some fail to notice or acknowledge is that Arabs existed prior to the coming of Islam and its spread. The topic of my second article from the new series that I am reporting on, Mystic People from Our Past, are the Ghassanids. [More]

NGOThe Best System Leads to Poverty
By Danellandia Foundation

The UN World Food Program just warned that millions of people will additionally suffer from poverty and hunger as a result of higher food prices since some foodstuffs have risen by as much as 40%. One of the main reasons behind the price rises is the demand for bio-fuels. Bio-fuels seem to be a punishment instead of a blessing.
