Beirut, Lebanon − Overwhelming feelings arise with a new born baby. I just had my first baby boy, and I cannot seem to have the time for anything or anyone; good thing I am writing this article!

No wonder God favors the mother over the father; he knows what she will be going through in this life. People think that the only hard part is when the baby is born and keeps you awake all night! Well, it is not! It is not only the delivery process and the long sleepless nights; it is the whole “ENCHILADA!” from day one of pregnancy till the day she dies.

First, she finds out she is pregnant and goes through all the morning sickness and the fear of miscarriage. When she gets through this period in six months or so, she fears her child would turn abnormal. Then when she finds out s/he is normal, she worries about “Preeclampsia” (a kind of sickness that is common nowadays and endangers the lives of both mother and child between the seventh and ninth months of pregnancy), and the list goes on! Can you imagine all this stress exerted on the mother together with all the hormones? Do not let me even begin to tell you about the delivery process (OUCH!).

Now that the baby is born, she is always asking the same question, “Uhh….What day is it? Is it day time or night time?” She becomes absolutely clueless, blinded by diapers, formula, pacifiers and much much more! I am sure all of you have heard about Post Partum Depression and Post Partum hair loss! Yes, those come with the “Bundle of Joy Package” as well!

If this is what the mother-to-be goes through each time she decides to have a child, why does she even bother if it is that much of a hassle? It is because the experience is worth every second! All what is written above would simply vanish with one smile of your beloved baby, with the new feelings that accompany all this pain: a feeling of belonging, a new taste for life, a new goal, a new meaning! So I guess nothing so meaningful could come to you easily; good things in life are worth fighting for. So for all you women out there who are hesitant about getting a child, go for it or you will be missing out on the only meaningful experience in your life; and for all you men who have pregnant wives you’d better support them!
