SocialIronic but true
By Sarah Nsouli, Staff Writer

Beirut, Lebanon - Our youth immigrate to Europe and other countries to live, and others immigrate to our country. Few years ago, I heard an astonishing fact which points out that about six thousands people have left the country, and no one from the government is willing to find a solution for this problem.

The ironic thing is that thousands of people have immigrated to Lebanon especially from the Arab countries.

Almost 90% or more who leave the country to the "west" will get married to a European, American, British…female and settle down for good (forgetting their origin, their nationality) Soon, they tend to forget their native language and adapt to the new, better life that they have been offered (As guys always say, and I quote, “If I am able to immigrate I'll go for it 'cause it is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that shouldn't be missed”).This might be true for many reasons, one of which is the fact that they send and remit money to their families back home…

On the other hand, young girls are often forbidden to immigrate alone either due to religious issues, parents, brothers, and especially gossip (where Lebanese people are rated the best in rumors and give a lot of weight to a girl’s reputation). And thus, leading to our only conclusion: Lebanese women are having trouble finding men due to the high rate of immigration of our youth.

So, girls, it is time for our revolution: "west" is calling, and we need to answer because it might be the "once-in-a-lifetime opportunity" for our success…

We have rights too; don't you think so?!
