Beirut, Lebanon - Singer and actress Kylie Minogue was diagnosed with breast cancer. Minogue, was scheduled to conclude her world tour at the Glastonbury Festival and was also due to begin a 20-day Australian tour titled Showgirl.
Minogue’s journey in fame started when she was only 11. At the age of 17, Kylie starred in the famous soap opera called Neighbors. Later, she launched a new career as a pop singer. So far, Minogue has 39 hits worldwide and is one of the most successful female singers.
After discovering she had breast cancer, the 36-year-old singer was immediately transferred to a hospital in Melbourne for a first-class treatment. “Hopefully all will work out fine and I'll be back with you all again soon," the singer attested.
Ironically, Minogue has played a major role in raising money for breast cancer research over the past years. In fact, one of her “skimpiest bras” was sold at an auction for $ 4,000. Breast Cancer Campaign spokesman said, "This is sad news about Kylie, a pop star whom many of us have grown up with over the years, who has now been diagnosed with breast cancer. However, it is important to remember that this is not just one young woman's disease... this is why it's important that women are breast-aware and know the risks associated with the disease."
Even though it was a hard experience for her, Minogue was happy to see that her fight against breast cancer has raised public awareness of the disease. "Being 'breast-aware' plays a major role in early detection, so I was especially pleased to hear that younger women, in particular, are being more proactive with breast examination and talking to their doctors,” the singer said in a statement on her website.
According to the BBC Network, breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK. One in every nine women will develop breast cancer at some point in their lives. The pop star underwent a successful operation. Kylie has been drained by the treatment. However, she is a strong person. Doctors say that it will take the singer about a year to be able to fully recover and perform. But who knows, she might never come back as a full-on entertainer again.
